Position Details:

Role Purpose & Scope

As a Senior Business Consultant you will be required to assist clients in solving business problems with technology solutions. Through the use of product and industry knowledge, you will be required to analyze the customer/business requirements and technical solutions needed to achieve goals and objectives. You will need to interface with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for defining a solution that matches clients business needs

  • Meets with clients to gather, analyze and document business requirements and produce system requirements

  • Provides leadership and guidance in providing solutions to the business client

  • Participates in pre-sales activities using personal presence and product knowledge. Assisting with RFP response, delivery and demonstrations

  • Demonstrates system functionality to client
  • Plays key role in completion of the specification study and the preparation of statement of work in conjunction with the project implementation team, including assessing the customers readiness and the creation of agendas
  • Estimates scope of consultant efforts and accurately estimates billable time required for completion
  • Guides the project team through implementation and testing of the system requirements
  • Reviews test plans to ensure coverage of system requirements
  • Primary contact point for clients business interests and works toward resolution of issues
  • Acts as a point of contact for information, support, direction and leadership for other business analysts, core product management teams and shared development team
  • Provides leadership to the project team and client on the impact of market and regulatory changes and the future directions of the core products
  • Responsible for delivering feedback to the core product teams to ensure that future releases of the products meet the ongoing needs of the client/business
  • Responsible for decisions which require considerable independent judgment and integration of variable information
  • Work independently and collaborate with peers when necessary
  • Ensure the optimization of and full accountability for results of decisions
  • Prevent erroneous decisions which will result in serious impacts to project costs and customer commitments

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or Telecommunications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as business/software consultant in telecommunications industry

  • Preferred experience in Singleview or other similar billing products

  • In-depth understanding of customer needs and general impact of changes in business environment and industry trends. In-depth understanding of clients industry (wireline, wireless, data services, cable systems, pre/post-paid business models etc.)

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • General understanding of project management discipline to ensure primary responsibilities are completed within accepted standards and templates (eg Change Management, Issue Management)

  • Highly developed communication skills for demonstrations, presentations, consulting with clients and influencing others

  • Highly developed facilitation skills for customer interaction

  • Knowledge and experience in working in agile teams would be an added advantage

  • Fluent in English and French

  • Willing and able to travel in to Africa
