Your Role and Responsibilities


Job Description

  • This role leads the IBM SA Equity Equivalence Investment Programme (EEIP) and its 4 sub-components by taking overall accountability for the execution of the business and financial targets of each stream and the overall EEIP
  • The role provides strategic guidance and thought leadership on the ownership element of the BEE scorecard
  • The role also manages the full EEIP team and all key stakeholders in the ecosystem includes internal and external stakeholders
  • This is a senior role that requires strategic thinking, problem solving and an understanding of the spirit of transformation and business strategy.
  • The role requires an understanding of technology businesses and/or the sector and requires an individual to be an innovative thinker and thought leader.

Responsibilities / Job Specification



Taking overall accountability of execution of all streams of the EEIP by overseeing, monitoring and managing the programme and streams.

  • Ensuring that the strategic plan for each stream is defined to derive value and operates against the defined processes and governance requirements of the organisation
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team

Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders of the EEIP Ecosystem (Dti, Collaboration Partners, IBM Business, Beneficiaries) with particular focus on regulatory bodies to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met



Maintain an in-depth familiarisation and understanding of all related B-BBEE legislation and regulation as well as all contractual agreements and documentation of the EEIP to ensure all targets and milestones are met.



Create a consistent high quality management and reporting system to inform all key stakeholders of the progress of implementation. This includes internal and external reporting.



Effectively lead, manage and motivate the team aligned to the IBM HR, management processes and compliance requirements.

Skills required

  • Appropriate training and experience in transformational strategies
  • Functional and technical knowledge and experience with current B-BBEE legislation and regulations
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills / experience with sound business acumen and business development , with a flare towards developing SMEs (that is the ability to enable the growth of business)
  • Proficient in tools (MS)
  • High proficiency in communication (verbal and written)
  • Ability to think of their feet and get things done
  • Leadership skills and the ability to manage a team
  • Business Development skills aligned to the ICT sector preferred (working with SMEs and new markets)
  • Deep understanding and insights into the plight of typical black South African entrepreneurs with respect to access to capital, operational effectiveness, market research and development, coaching and mentoring techniques, sales and marketing, networking and general business development
  • Strong Project Management skills, ability to develop proposals and draft reports
  • Functional knowledge of financial accounting principles for budgeting, monitoring and reporting purposes
  • Previous experience within Procurement and prior managerial exposure will be an added advantage
  • Ability to monitor performance across the programme, all streams and all stakeholders (includes beneficiaries, service providers, partners, stream owners, employees)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise


Basic Qualifications

  • At least 7 years relevant work experience, at least 4 years experience working within the B-BBEE environment essential
  • Post-Graduate Bachelors Degree in Business Management or related
  • B-BBEE MDP (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in BEE, including DTI Codes of Good Practice, Sector Charters, detailed reporting, policy review and verification
  • Superior technical expertise in the interpretation and application of BEE legislation, including all elements of the DTI Codes
  • Experience with BEE systems analysis and strategy creation
  • Experience in technology sector
