Purpose of Job:


The Johannesburg CIB


Operations team provides support to the Equities and Currency and Emerging


Markets (CEM) Businesses. This position


is based in Johannesburg supervising a team individuals in the equities


settlements space.



The successful applicant will be a highly


motivated, self-driven individual who is capable of multi-tasking, analytically


reviewing data and process to identify improvements, good time management, and


communication skills. The position requires significant interaction with the


traders; financial control, Trade Assistants and the Middle Office. A strong track record of equities operations experience


is essential.



The role is suited to a


motivated and innovative self-starter with the necessary skills and experience


to drive change as well as to ensure an efficient and controlled operating


model. This includes managing the


operating model, technology requirements and business processes needed to


facilitate the business whilst maintaining a robust control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective day
    to day support to the sales/trading desk on trade bookings; position
    management and risk reporting
  • Securities
    settlement function including f the stock borrow lending process as well
    as the Euroclear securities settlement process
  • Ensuring a
    well-controlled and efficient operating model that includes the
    performance of all relevant control reconciliations including stock/cash
    positions and FOBO reconciliations
  • Ensuring accurate
    funding positions and efficient use of the LEs capital
  • Liaising with
    sales/traders; clients; custodian and internal JPM colleagues and teams to
    ensure timely and accurate processing and settlement of all transactions
  • Compliance with all
    local and applicable international rules and regulations and aligning
    these to internal policies & procedures
  • Ownership and
    resolution of all daily tasks as well as any extraordinary issues that
    arise
  • Project management
  • Meeting all MIS
    and reporting deadlines
  • Implementation of
    new processes and systems
  • Provide business
    support to other areas of the bank as necessary
  • Maintenance of
    standard operating procedures
  • Reference data management
  • Support of
    Structured Trades
  • Support of new
    listings and private placements
  • Conversion and
    settlement of dual listed securities

    processes and systems

Educational/Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent preferred with strong relevant
    banking experience
  • Equities Settlement Officer Qualification
  • Cash Equities operations experience

Experience

  • 7+ years relevant equity operations experience (preferably
    to include Institutional activity in SA)
