Description

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic commercial and business advice to management in driving the business and supporting growth and transformation in the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).



Detailed Description



The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Coordinate commercial and economics input to capital spend and new business initiatives within the SARB, within the framework of the SARB”s strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a budget plan that reflects 3 to 5 year objectives and priorities of relevant SARB departments, brought down to a 1 year operational view.
  • Promote and maintain appropriate relationships with key stakeholders (internal, external e.g. industry stakeholders suppliers).
  • Produce reporting and management information in order to facilitate appropriate internal liaison and support management decision making (working with budget representatives across the various departments in SARB).
  • Proactively engage with business partners to understand the relevant key cost drivers of departments.
  • Drive commercial negotiations and supply arrangement with relevant key cost drivers of departments.
  • Ensure successful communication of the relevant department budget in alignment with the Bank’s strategy and budget objectives.
  • Provide sound input into all investment cases for relevant (i.e. IT and Corporate Services departments and other strategic business projects) and actively seek value creation opportunities.
  • Designing and implementing a commercial decision-making framework for the SARB (benchmarked and following leading best practice) including methodology and templates for assisting and supporting heads of department in their planning process.

Job Requirements



To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • a minimum of an Honours degree in commerce/law, finance/business Chartered Accountant (CA (SA) qualification; and
  • a minimum of 10 - 12 years’ experience in a commercial business function with adequate experience at a senior level.

The following would be an added advantage:

  • A CIMA, CA (SA) MBA, process engineering or project management qualification;
  • exposure to corporate finance.
