Description

Operations


Responsible for testing all products(raw materials/finished products) as per relevant ASTM and internal test methods. Ensure that they meet Total’s & customer’s requirements.


Operation and necessary trouble shooting of the various Lab instruments / equipment.


Conduct Pre Use Inspections on all lab equipment before use. Ensure safe operation all lab instruments.


Carry out calibration/ verification checks on all lab instruments/equipment.


Approve all blend instructions prior to blending


Test & approve all bulk & filling line samples


Issue certificates of analysis upon request


Test all effluent samples for compliance with Environmental system requirements


Assume the duties of the Lab Assistant or Lab Manager in their absence


Carry out trial blends on request.


Participate in Round Robin Analysis and ensure results are submitted to lab Manager timeously.


Ensure good housekeeping/ 5S is maintained at all times


Capturing of data into spreadsheets and maintaining of all records.


Investigate blend failures and complete Incident reports.


Involvement in Quality inspections of packaging material


Quality Assurance on filling lines and Dispatch.


HSEQ


To ensure constant adherence and compliance to company HSEQ and security standards, local by-laws, standards and legislations so as to minimise all risk pertaining to company assets and protection of life and environment.


Stop operations in the event of an Emergency.


Report at least Near Misses on a monthly basis.


Stop any activity that has a potential to cause accident or product nonconformity.


People Management


Maintain a good communication between cross-functional teams.proactive training management in liaison with the relevant departments and managers

Laboratory plus factory environments.



Candidate profile



Minimum- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry


Minimum 3 years experience in a laboratory environment


Knowledge of chemistry of petroleum products an advantage.


Familiar with the HSEQ system requirements i.e. ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and safety systems ISO 18001 (ISSSRS).


Manufacturing (Blend Plant, Petroleum Industry, etc) or related Manufacturing environment Safety Rules.


Computer literate


Good communication Skills (oral and written).


Knowledge of various instruments used in laboratory analysis i.e. ICP, XRF and FTIR


Good trouble shooting skills


Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


Must be prepared to work long hours, shifts and weekend.


Drivers licence – own vehicle preferable.
