Yoco is looking for an experienced UX Designer / Specialist, to work within the Customer Insights team and partner with UI designers and our Technology and Product teams on key projects, who has a passion for mobile application design. An individual who is passionate about developing product design strategies based on the insights of real people and specialised in turning these insights into highly functional and attractive experiences.

IDEAL CANDIDATE - WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Key responsibilities:
  • Design an exceptional UX across Yoco's product suite based on your experience and expertise, taking full responsibility for your work.
  • Lead and execute qualitative research (ethnographic) from framing, planning, design, execution and synthesis to inform UX and UI design.
  • Brainstorm, iterate and test concepts and prototypes with real users.
  • Work directly with Customer Insight specialists, UI designers and Product Managers to drive value creation and impact.
  • Collaborate closely and successfully negotiate with Software Engineers to get your designs built into iOS, Android, and Web applications.
  • Offer UX specialist feedback and support during design critiques.
  • Create delightful, elegant and effective solutions to complex problems.
  • Brainstorm, iterate and test concepts and prototypes with real users.
  • Help us scale our product design capabilities in terms of teams, tools and structures.
  • Keep yourself and the rest of the team up to date with the latest practices, trends, and technologies in UX product design and your wider field.
  • Drive customer-centricity across the company through leadership, transparency and knowledge sharing.
IDEAL CANDIDATE - WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Key role requirements to perform responsibilities:
  • Minimum 3-year bachelor degree in UX or Interaction Design.
  • At least 2 - 5 years' work experience within design and software development.
  • Proficient in Sketch, InVision, and/or Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • Strong 'mobile-first' thinking, able to design for the unique challenges of various mobile devices.
  • Strong information architecture thinker: structures and flow design, from a strong user perspective.
  • Strong ability to collaborate closely with researchers, UI designers, developers, copywriters and product managers
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams in launching new products and improvements to existing features.
  • Values the craft of product design, passionate about creating empathy for customers throughout the company.
  • Strong ability to take internal stakeholders along on a journey: strong on collaboration, leadership and communication skills.
  • A basic understanding of quantitative research methods, from surveys to A/B testing and understanding of which techniques to apply when.
  • Understands and champions the value of anthropology, behavioural science and qualitative research for innovation and business strategy.
Bonus points/nice to have:
  • Experience in FinTech environment.
  • Masters degree in adjacent fields.
